Tobin Moore
Co-Founder
Tobin co-founded Optoro with Adam Vitarello in 2008 to make retail more circular and sustainable.
Tobin led Optoro as CEO for 15 years as Optoro grew from a scrappy startup to the industry leading all-in-one returns platform it is today, making better experiences for consumers, more efficient businesses for retailers, and a more environmentally friendly retail system for the planet. Tobin is passionate about building a business and culture that not only is good for its shareholders, but also makes a positive impact on the environment and community, as Optoro has been focused on doing since its inception.
Tobin spends his time working on the company vision and strategy, as well as building the right team and partnerships to enable Optoro’s continuous growth and ability to make a positive impact. Tobin has led the company’s efforts in raising over $250M from top technology and strategic investors to enable the company to execute on their vision at scale for the largest retailers in the country. As well, Tobin has spent time building out a talented executive team and board, bringing on fortune 500 strategic partners, and working with some of the largest retailers in the U.S. to improve their returns capabilities through the use of Optoro’s technology.
Tobin has been recognized as a leading SaaS CEO through honors such as Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Washington Business Journal’s 40 under 40, and the Washingtonian’s Tech Titans of DC. Prior to launching Optoro, fresh out of college in 2004, Tobin founded eSpot in his parents garage, one of the original eBay drop-off & resell stores, which was his first foray into the growing world of e-commerce.
Outside of his endeavors at Optoro, Tobin enjoys spending time with his young, energetic daughter and wife, seeking out adventures in the National Parks of the U.S., or taking on a challenging swim, such as the race from Alcatraz to San Francisco and the Statue of Liberty to New York City. Tobin holds a B.A. from Brown University with a double major in Business Economics and American History.
